Planning a Weekend Trip
B1Last month, Zita and three of her closest friends decided that they needed a break from their busy university schedules, so they began planning a short trip to the countryside. They wanted to find a place where they could go hiking, enjoy beautiful scenery, and relax without spending too much money, since none of them had a large budget for travelling.
For almost a week, they spent their evenings searching online for suitable destinations. They compared prices for guesthouses, read reviews from other travellers, and looked at maps to find walking trails near lakes and forests. Eventually, they agreed on a small village near a lake, about two hours away from the city by train. The guesthouse they found was simple but had excellent reviews, and the price included breakfast every morning.
On the day of departure, the friends met at the train station early in the morning. Zita had packed comfortable walking shoes, a small tent in case the weather allowed them to camp outside for one night, and a first aid kit, just to be safe. Her friend Niki brought a camera to take photos of the landscape, while the other two carried food and drinks for the journey.
The train journey itself was pleasant, with beautiful views of fields and small towns passing by the window. When they arrived at the village, they were impressed by how quiet and peaceful it was compared to the city. They checked into the guesthouse, dropped off their bags, and immediately set off to explore the area on foot.
Over the next two days, the group hiked along several trails around the lake, stopping frequently to take photographs and have picnics. On their second evening, since the weather stayed warm and dry, they decided to set up the tent near the water and sleep outside under the stars, something none of them had done before.
By the time they returned home on Sunday evening, all four friends agreed that the trip had been exactly what they needed. They were already talking about where to go on their next adventure, and Zita suggested that next time they should try a destination by the sea instead of a lake.
