The Story of the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous buildings in the world. It stands in Paris, the capital city of France.

Workers built the tower in 1889 for a big exhibition. At that time, many people did not like the tower. They thought it was too tall and too strange for the beautiful city of Paris.

The tower is made of iron and is more than 300 metres tall. For many years, it was the tallest building in the world. Today, more than six million people visit the Eiffel Tower every year.

Visitors can take a lift to the top of the tower. From there, they can see the whole city of Paris, including the river Seine and many other famous buildings.

At night, thousands of lights make the tower shine in the dark sky. Now, after more than 130 years, the Eiffel Tower is not strange anymore. It is a symbol of Paris that people all over the world love and admire.
